The purpose of this project is to bring together artists,
both local and national, to raise money to help prevent breast cancer.
Delicious Corsets will make corsets as a blank canvas and invite selected
artists to add their unique touch to them. Each corset will then be

Leah is an artist, photographer and teacher. She has been shooting
commercial photography since 1999, when she moved back to Philadelphia
after receiving her masters degree in photography from California
College of Arts in Oakland.
Leah uses beeswax and oil paint (encaustic) to enhance her fine art
photographs. Her passion lies in the traditional, artistic forms of
photography and the use of film and fiber papers, her images are filled
with imagination, creativity and emotion.

The purpose of this project is to explore peoples preconceptions
and to visually communicate and share a new experience with the viewer.
I choose corsets because of their historical significance and because
of the way I have heard people talking about them. Most people have
never worn a corset, yet most people know what they are and have an
opinion about them. This semed odd to me, so I got some people together
and put them in corsets, had them write about how it felt, and took
some pictures. This is the very beginning of this project, it will
grow and change.

NEW WORK BY SHAYNA MCCONVILLE
AT DELICIOUS BOUTIQUE, PHILADELPHIA
Shayna V. McConville explores time-tinted narratives inspired
by vintage cheesecake photographs and burlesque performers, including
Philadelphia's own neo-burlesque group, the Peek-A-Boo Revue. In her
recent paintings, the performers enact or perhaps embody the mortally
challenged female protagonists from literature including George Eliot's
Maggie Tulliver, George du Marier's Trilby and Shakespeare's Ophelia.
Allegorical symbols such as withering flowers and melancholy reflections
hold to these themes.
